
Yuxuan Li is a dedicated multi-instrumentalist and educator hailing from China, with a profound mastery of both the piano and the guzheng, a traditional Chinese string instrument rich in cultural heritage. Her musical journey, defined by a blend of humility and a relentless pursuit of knowledge, brought her to the United States, where she advanced her musical education and embarked on a path filled with quiet yet significant accomplishments. She now holds a bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Residing in the culturally diverse cities of New York and Los Angeles, Yuxuan thrives as an independent musician, performer, and educator. Her work is dedicated to fostering cultural exchange and promoting a deeper understanding of Chinese music through her artistry. She has made notable contributions to the academic community by establishing a guzheng course at Teachers College, Columbia University, playing a pivotal role in the integration of Chinese music into higher education. She is also a prize winner in the World Guzheng Competition, Professional Group.

Yuxuan’s approach to music is characterized by a gentle curiosity and a profound respect for tradition, balanced with a desire to explore new musical landscapes. Her debut EP, Magnetic Field, released in 2023, reflects her endeavor to merge the timeless beauty of the guzheng with contemporary musical genres. This project, a testament to her vision of collective musical discovery, aims to introduce the enchanting sound of the guzheng to new audiences, broadening their musical horizons. Her single Fallen Leaves showcases her composition uniqueness and the use of advanced guzheng techniques. Her newest EP, First Note Guzheng, gathers five traditional guzheng pieces, which she says playing traditional pieces always inspires her creativity.

Yuxuan is also passionate about teaching and making Chinese music more accessible to her community. Her culturally diverse and creative music group classes and lessons have received many positive feedbacks. She is now working closely with local non-profit organizations, education centers, and Chinese culture academies to bring guzheng music closer to more people.
